Roomies Arts: Enhancing Creative Opportunites

Roomies Arts is a not-for-profit independent arts organisation that connects people with a disability and creative communities.

Roomies provides a range of opportunities and experiences to support people with a disability to achieve goals, develop community connections, build skills, participate in creative activity and further develop an art practice.  If you are an artist living with mental health concerns and or disability we would love to support you in your creative practice.

Formed in 2005, Roomies Arts promotes professional practice, and enables artists living with physical and mental health challenges to gain artistic skills, develop and achieve their own creative goals. Artists can access opportunities to develop and exhibit work, work collaboratively on projects, and gain skills in the marketing of art.

People living with mental health concerns and disabilities can experience barriers to participation in professional arts practice and as such their perspective of their urban environment and their place in it are often unseen. Roomies works to remove those barriers so that artists can participate fully and the community can benefit from experiencing diverse creative voices.

Roomies is committed to inclusivity. Roomies artists have exhibited in commercial galleries, Artist Run Spaces, online, public art works, at public festivals.
